Other iOS Maps Apps you can take, except Apple’s Maps app

Apple made the decision to give up Google Maps with the release of iPhone 5, instead introduce its own Apple Maps App. However the new Maps App is more terrible than people could imagine.

Apple's new Maps application was met with a lot of criticism from users who complained of incorrect positioning data, poor routing and Flyover rendering issues. Compared to the Google Maps, it loses the haro.

Apple is sorry about the iOS 6 Apple Maps debacle. Not only did CEO Tim Cook issue an apology letter to customers on Apple.com, Says 'Extremely Sorry' for Maps Shortfalls, the company is also highlighting alternative mapping apps in the App Store.

Since the Apple’s Maps app doesn’t seem to work that well in some place. So if you're looking for alternatives apps, here is a list of Apps you can choose.

1. Waze

If you just want a simple voice navigated maps app that works properly, we really likeWaze because it's free, easily report what's happening on the road and get turn-by-turn navigation , has a great location search, and plenty more

2. NAVIGON USA

The software includes many of NAVIGON's signature navigation functions such as Reality View™ Pro, Lane Assistant Pro, Speed Assistant and Text-to-Speech. Naturally  it features NAVIGON's sophisticated and elegant map views including branded POIs along the route.

It can get transit directions and public transportation schedules

3. Google Maps

Of course, what many people really want is good old Google Maps back, which maybe is one of the best Maps apps in the world. It wasn't without its faults, but the fact it integrates driving directions, up-to-date maps, transit directions, biking and walking directions, and a robust business search, it's very much missed. Chances are Google will release their own version of the Maps app soon. Google Thursday launched an app called Field Trip, can take you on a Field Trip,  though available now for Android phones, but with an iOS version expected in the future.

Above all, you can also use the Nokia Maps, Bing and MapQuest.

What can you do in order to Make Apple Maps better ?

So If you actually enjoy Apple's Maps app, you can do something in orde to making it better. You can do this in one of two ways. First off, you can report problems with mislabeled streets, satellite images, directions, or other problems:

  • From the Maps home screen, tap the curled page on the bottom right side.
  • Tap "Report a Problem" (right above the large "Print" button).
  • Select Your problem, add any comments, and send it off.
For a lot of people, Apple's move to its own mapping system has caused some serious problems. The above methods will get you rolling in style again. To some degree, Apple need time to launch a better Maps.

Everything you should know about the panorama on iPhone 4s/5

Apple didn’t spend too much time talking about the iSight camera at the iPhone 5′s unveil event because both of the iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 have an 8-megapixel camera. But is that mean the iPhone 5 camera mostly as the same as iPhone 45? You have been fooled if you think so.

The Camera on iPhone 5 features improvements including 40 percent faster photo capture, better low-light performance, and improved noise reduction. So people can snap more shots with more detail and clarity than ever before. Most important, the iPhone 5 have a new panorama feature with the new gyroscope, A6 chip, and Camera technology. The iPhone will stabilize any erratic motion, then stitch together a beautiful 240 degree picture.

So if you want to take a better panorama photo on the iPhone 4s and 5, here is everything you should know.

How does it work?

You must update your iPhone 4S to iOS 6 then the panorama mode should already be built into the camera app. It is only running on iPhone 5 and 4S, others can’t and so does the iPad.

How to take panorama photos on your iPhone 5 or 4S

1. Launch the camera app on your iPhone 5 or 4S.
2. Tap on the Options button at the top of the screen.
3. Tap on the Panorama button.
4. You'll see an arrow in the center of your screen.
5. Tap the camera button to begin taking your panorama photo.
6. Try to keep the arrow in the center as much you possibly can.
7. Tap the Done button when you are finished taking your picture.

The key here to take a good panorama photo is to go slow and move steady. When take the phone, you should move the phone even slower, then you would possible get the best photos. If you begin to move too fast or get too far off center you'll see a message on the screen telling you how to correct it.

And if you don't want to take a full 240-degree photo, you can stop at any time by pressing the shutter button along the bottom. Whatever progress you have made will then be saved to your Camera Roll.

What’s the difference between Taking panorama pictures by the iPhone, and Apps?

Through apps while taking the panorama picture, you choose the panorama setting, stand in the same place and move around, and once you've finished it stitches the photos together. While By contrast, the iPhone 5 (and 4S) Panorama function lets you move around as you take the picture. You can move the camera up and down.

It's not that Apple is first with a panoramic setting, but by compared with the Apps, we can easily find that Apple do better in this aspect.

Compared to Apple iPhone 5 display, Nokia Lumia 920 is better

The iPhone5, Apple’s latest generation smartphone, hit a sell record with a lighter and thinner design. Most important, it equipped with a brilliant 4-inch Retina display, larger and better than before, which is absolutely beautiful. Despite that, is the iPhone 5 have the most advanced display?

Now let’s back to the Apple iPhone 5 announcement event on 12, September , Phil Schiller claimed that the new iOS flagship has the world’s most advanced display yet. But is that true? I think a lot of people are confused by these words.

It appears, however, that this might not be entirely true, as one Nokia fan did a spec-by-spec comparison of the iPhone 5 and the Lumia 920.

First, let’s take a look why the Lumia 920 display is better than the iPhone 5?
  • Larger screen
  • Higher resolution
  • Higher pixel density (Apple called "retina screen", now defeated Lumia 920)
  • Outdoor better results
  • PureMotion HD + refresh rate higher
  • Super sensitive display, more sensitive touch
Here is the detailed information after compared the iPhone 5 with Lumia 920.

Display resolution and PPI

iPhone 5: 1136 x 640 and 326PPI
Lumia 920: 1280 x 768 and 332PPI
Lumia 920 wins: 26% better resolution, 2% better PPI

Display size and technology

iPhone 5: 4-inch and LED IPS
Lumia 920: 4.5-inch and LED IPS
Lumia 920 wins if you view a bigger display as better

Display response time

iPhone 5: average 23 milliseconds
Lumia 920: average 9 milliseconds
Lumia 920 wins using PureMotion HD+ making it 2.5x faster

Due to Nokia use of Clear Black Display technology, which adds a polarizing layer between the touch and display panels to cut down of reflection, the Lumia 920 will have much better outdoor legibility, which is 15% better legibility than iPhone 5, Gaichuke says. And Nokia display will react to touch through a glove with Synaptic’s super sensitive touch technology.

So apparently, Nokia Lumia 920 display is better than iPhone 5, including resolution, PPI, size, response time, refresh rate, sensitivity, brightness, reflectance, and legibility (especially outdoors).

Marissa Mayer gives every Yahoo employee an iPhone 5 or Lumia 920 (or Android phone)

According to businessinsider, Marissa Meyer, the new CEO of Yahoo, sent an e-mail message to all of Yahoo employees full-time and part-time in the United States, promised to give each of them a new smartphone. The list includes the Apple iPhone5, Samsung Galaxy S3, Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One X, but no blackberry.

"The staffs are very happy." says a source at the company.

A few weeks ago, reports have said that Yahoo's new CEO Marissa Mayer was preparing to give each Yahoo employees a new iPhone or Android smartphone.

Mayer finally put that plan into motion through a program Yahoo is calling "Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun!"

It is said the message come from an internal memo. Through the program, the Yahoo employees can have a choice of phones:  iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, HTC EVO 4G LTE or Nokia Lumia 920. Yahoo is also going to pay its employees data and phone bills..

So if you were RIM, how would you feel about this?

Giving employees of new smartphones will certainly boost morale at Yahoo, like free food, but this is not the whole point. According to the memo, the idea is for Yahoo employees to use the phones that Yahoo users are using.

"We want to let the employees to use similar handsets similar to our users ".We'd like our employees to have devices similar to our users, so we can think and work as the majority of our users do."

Meyer is pretty wisdom; this program will only cost millions of dollars, which is pocket change for a company with annual revenues in the billions of dollars. The benefit will be a more informed and motivated workforce.

Here's a memo that just went out:

We have a very exciting update to share with you today - we are announcing Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun!  As of today, Yahoo is moving off of blackberries as our corporate phones and on to smartphones in 22 countries.  A few weeks ago, we said that we would look into smartphone penetration rates globally and take those rates into account when deciding on corporate phones. Ideally, we'd like our employees to have devices similar to our users, so we can think and work as the majority of our users do.
Moving forward, we'll offer you a choice of devices as well as provide monthly plans for the data and phone.
The smartphone choices that we are including in the program are:

* Apple iPhone 5
* Android:
    - Samsung Galaxy S3
    - HTC One X
    - HTC EVO 4G LTE
* Windows Phone 8:
    - Nokia Lumia 920
We're getting started right away and taking orders starting now

iOS 6 will bring more new features to customers, to make the things you do every day even better.

1.  Maps

Apple’s own home-cooked new Maps app will replace Google Maps on the device. Compared to Google Maps., The addition of 3D maps, turn-by-turn navigation, and the stunning Flyover feature are welcome additions to be sure.

2.  Siri

With iOS 6, Siri understands more languages and works in more countries. Siri can show you the latest reviews and offer more information when asked about sports, restaurants, movies and more. You can also find the best restaurants in town and make reservations with it.

Even you can have Siri to open your apps for you. Say “Open Angry Birds” and Siri do just that. You can also use Siri to post Facebook updates and tweet for you.

Apple integrated Facebook into iOS 6 in the same way they integrated Twitter into the last major version of iOS. Now it’s easier Share a photo to Facebook right from Camera or Photos without downloading another apps.

iPhone 5 unveiling happens tomorrow, are you ready for the new iPhone ?

Yes, we're just a day away from Apple’s big press event on Wednesday -the unveiling of the next-generation iPhone. Tomorrow, on Sept. 12, Apple is expected to finally release the new iPhone. Are you ready for the amazing things will happen there?

Rumors about the new iPhone from last year until today have never stopped. Whether it's going to be named the iPhone 5 or "the new iPhone “, have a bigger screen? Better battery life? To celebrate this event, even there is a company called MoyeaSoft showed on Facebook who says that Guess about the new iPhone and the winner will get the registration code of the Moyea SWF to iPhone Converter! Regardless of that, everything about the new iPhone will be confirmed at 10:00AM Pacific in San Francisco tomorrow.

"An Apple logo displayed at the entrance of Yerba Buena Center for Arts in
San Francisco, Calif., where the company will hold a press event on Wednesday".

While I've seen all rumors round up about the iPhone 5, I haven't told you the question appears in my mind. Here's my own personal list of what matters most …to me.

1. iPhone 5 feature you want the most
1).Smoother Siri. Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more.. But Siri could be better .The occasional errors and odd miscommunications Siri and I have when chatting are usually enough to drive me to old-fashioned typing, according to Scott Stein from cnet.

2).Wireless-charging. Some kind of wireless-charging solution is long overdue. Nokia try to keep up with Samsung and Apple in the Smartphone market with Lumia 920 which can also be charged without being plugged in; the user just places it on a wireless charging pod. So may be the new iPhone could be wireless-charging if he still want to dominate the smartphone market.
2. Will you want to upgrade to iPhone 5 in Next Year?

A new study from AYTM Research suggests that three in four iPhone owners will likely upgrade their current model to Apple’s next-generation smartphone by the end of 2013.

According to the study, those who are most likely to upgrade to a new iPhone skew younger in age — consumers ages 18 to 34 are 46% more likely to upgrade by the end of 2012 than those 35 and older

So will you want to upgrade to iPhone 5 in Next Year? May be a thinner but bigger screen iPhone with A6 professor would attract more people to upgrade it.

3.After iPhone 5 unveiling, Apple's Tim Cook must prove himself to observers

Apple has become the world's most valuable company, adding about $265 billion in value since Cook became chief executive 13 months ago. Shares have soared 76 percent, and profits continue to rise. Investors feel valued with Cook lending them an ear and handing them a dividend. But all that may not be enough.

Does Tim have the ability to lead the organization to another major breakthrough in a new product category?" said Pete Solvik, managing director of venture capital firm Sigma and a former Apple employee. " Yes, Apple's competitors are getting more and more, like Samsung and Htc in smartphone market, now the Nokia join in. And also Amazon Kindle Fire and Samsung galaxy note10.1, Google Nexus 7 tablets appears in the markert, put more pressure to the iPad.

Now he should spent more time to think about how to ensure more people to buy his product, rather than the competitors.

"At the moment, Tim Cook has proven to be worth his weight in gold," Bajarin said.

Top games to play with friends on smartphones review

There are a variety of games valuable on both Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS smartphones that people can enjoy the time whenever they feel quite at leisure. But there are only a few games that people can go back to on an almost daily basis and that's because they are fun, attractive, and a great way to keep in touch with your friends and family.

Last week's collection of apps from CNET is all about connecting with friends with casual games. Somebody may have played one or all of these popular games, but for those who haven’t; these are the casual games that I strong recommend them all. Now let’s review all about them.

1. Scramble with Friends
 Download:  iPhone | Android

The app comes from Zynga which is the fast, fun game of finding words in a jumbled grid. Quickly slide your finger over adjacent letters to form words forwards, backwards, sideways...any way you can!  It has enjoyed much success in the iTunes App Store with classic Boggle-like gameplay, and it's a game that I go back to regularly on my iPhone.

Scramble with Friends lets you sign in through Facebook, then shows you who in your friend list already has the game. From there, you can quickly invite a friend to a game and play your first 2-minute round. When you're done, simply wait for your friend to play a turn and it's back to you (just like Words with Friends). You play three rounds to compete for the highest total score.

2. Matching with Friends
   Download:  Full version Free

It is another Zynga app that lets you play a turn-based game with a friend on the iPhone only. But instead of playing a word game, this time you'll be strategically placing matching colored blocks on a game board, then sending your move to a friend.

Like Scramble with Friends, Matching with Friends makes getting connected with people easy. Upon launch you'll be asked to sign in through either your Facebook or Twitter account. Once logged in, you can search for other players from your friends list or get automatically matched with a random player.

3. Dice with Buddies
Download:iPhone Android

Dice with Buddies is another great casual game, but this time you're playing a turn-based game similar to Hasbro's Yahtzee. As with the other games you can play with friends, family, or match up with a random opponent, but there is no single-player option.

As Scramble with Friends has evolved, new extras have been added to kick the game up a notch. Before beginning a round, you can select from four Power-Ups to give you a leg up, and your opponent has the same options. The freeze power-up stops time, giving you more than the allotted 2 minutes to find a few extra words. The inspiration power-up actually shows you the location of three words you have not yet selected. If you choose Scramble, you can mix up all the tiles. The latest power-up to the party is Vision, where the game challenges you to find three words, and, once found, give you 15 seconds of extra time. These bonus power-ups add a little something more to the classic game of Boggle and keep the action interesting.

If you're looking for a great way to connect up with a buddy and play some casual games, I recommend all the games in this collection.
